Verkada Appoints Mark Coates as EMEA Vice President to Drive Growth

Verkada Appoints Mark Coates as Vice President for EMEA

On February 4, 2026, Verkada announced the appointment of Mark Coates as the Vice President for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), marking a significant move for the AI-based physical security technology leader. This strategic decision targets the rapidly expanding demand for modernized security solutions across diverse industries in the EMEA region.

Mark Coates is recognized for his extensive experience in the technology field, having spent nearly three decades driving advancements in security for businesses. Prior to joining Verkada, he held a vital role as Vice President at Gigamon, where he managed the EMEA division. His leadership during that period resulted in a remarkable double-digit revenue growth, alongside three consecutive years of record performance, earning recognition in the cybersecurity domain.

Eric Salava, Verkada's Chief Revenue Officer, stated, “EMEA is a crucial region for Verkada, with strong demand from rapidly growing companies looking to modernize their physical security and operations.” Salava emphasized that Coates’s wealth of regional experience and competitive spirit will be instrumental in leading Verkada through its next stage of growth. Coates himself expressed enthusiasm about entering the organization at such a pivotal time. “Verkada is modernizing physical security and building operations by replacing fragmented on-premises systems with a unified cloud-based AI platform,” he remarked, highlighting the innovative direction of the company.

Before his tenure at Gigamon, Coates served as Vice President for the North and West EMEA at Digital Realty, where he was a key player in achieving over 30% revenue growth. He also played an instrumental role in integrating Interxion post its $8.5 billion acquisition, further showcasing his capacity for steering companies through transformation.

Coates brings a wealth of leadership from previous roles at notable companies including DTEX Systems, Veritas Technologies, Good Technology, and Symantec, effectively building and expanding sales organizations during turbulent market times.

As Coates steps into his new role, he succeeds Ardon Anderson, who previously held the Vice President position for EMEA and is now pursuing new leadership opportunities in North America. Under Anderson’s management, the EMEA segment saw significant expansion—over 700% growth and successful launches in the Middle East, DACH, and Southern Europe.

Mark Coates will be attending VerkadaOne in London on March 19, 2026, where he will discuss the latest trends in cloud-based physical security alongside a diverse range of industry experts and partners.
