Amaury Pierron Clinches Victory at 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup

The legendary Bike Kingdom Park in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, played host to the eighth round of the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup from September 18-21. Renowned for its breathtaking trails and fervent atmosphere, this venue is a staple in the downhill racing calendar.

This year’s World Cup has seen its share of challenges, often marred by inclement weather, but the finals on Saturday shone under bright blue skies, providing ideal conditions for racing. Amaury Pierron of Monster Energy made the most of these conditions, securing a stunning first-place finish in the Elite Men Division.

A native of Brioude, France, the 29-year-old Pierron took to the course as one of the earlier competitors. His time of 0244.699 was the fastest of the day, a performance that proved difficult for any of his contenders to match. This victory represents his thirteenth career win in the World Cup series and marks a significant comeback for Pierron after grappling with injuries earlier in the season.

Reflecting on his victory, Pierron expressed his surprise and elation: "To be honest, I was not expecting that win at all. It was a struggle from the beginning with mechanical issues and finding speed in qualifiers. I just focused on completing a clean run in the finals. It's been a hard season coming back from my injury and building back momentum. I’m so stoked to take the win here!" His success here propels him into fourth place in the overall season standings with 995 points.

Joining Pierron on the podium was Lachie Stevens-McNab from Rotorua, New Zealand, who finished third just behind him with a time of 0245.513. This result was significant for Stevens-McNab, marking his first podium finish of the season after a challenging year. "I've had a pretty good weekend overall here in Lenzerheide. I pushed a little too hard at the beginning of my run, but I'm stoked to see it paying off!" he noted, beaming about the exhilarating course.

As the countdown begins to the final legs of the 2025 season, with just two races left, anticipation builds for the next event in Lake Placid, New York, slated for October 3-5. This race will be held at a new venue on Whiteface Mountain, a part of Adirondack Mountains, promising yet another thrilling chapter in this year’s championship.
