2025 EV Awareness Event in Koganei City
Excitement is building as Koganei City prepares to host the annual EV awareness event on October 18 and 19, 2025. Organized by JKK Tokyo, an organization dedicated to promoting electric vehicles (EVs) and charging stations, this event aims to educate and engage individuals and families about the benefits of EVs.
Background and Purpose
As part of Tokyo's ambitious goal to achieve zero emissions by 2050, the city is actively pushing for the adoption of Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), which produce no harmful emissions during operation. The city plans to install approximately 60,000 EV charging stations in collective housing by 2030. To support this initiative, JKK has entered into a partnership with the city, enhancing the installation of charging equipment in residential areas.
Since February 2023, JKK has offered a significant incentive for EV owners: a monthly parking fee reduction of 20% for up to five years at JKK residential properties. This initiative is designed to stimulate interest and adoption of EVs within Tokyo.
This year, the event will mark its third edition, inviting all Tokyo residents to enjoy a day of fun and learning about electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. It aims not only to increase awareness but also to foster a community that supports sustainable transportation solutions.
