A New Era for the Agricultural and Food Industry

The 2026 Food Expo, encompassing the 10th China International Food and Ingredients Expo, the 4th Pre-made Food Industry Expo, and the 15th Guangdong Modern Agricultural Expo, took place from April 10 to 12 at the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center. This significant event, themed "A Feast for All, Tasting the Future," marks an unprecedented integration of these three major expos. It aims to create a comprehensive national-level platform that not only showcases exhibitions but also promotes trade, exchange, and cooperation within the agricultural and food sectors.

This year’s expo is particularly notable as it injects fresh momentum into enhancing the quality and efficiency of the agricultural and food industry. The event coincides with the first-year rollout of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, making it all the more relevant as efforts to revitalize rural areas gain traction.

Expanding Horizons: The Scale and Participation

The Food Expo has a rich history, having successfully hosted nine previous sessions, and has established its base in Dongguan for six consecutive years. Spanning over 50,000 square meters, this year's expo welcomed a record 1,671 exhibitors, featuring high-quality agricultural and food enterprises from 23 countries and regions, as well as all 31 provincial-level regions across China. This substantial increase in both size and international participation illustrates the expo's evolution into a truly global event.

The exhibition’s structure comprises nine distinct sections, including the Brand and Local Cuisine Pavilion, International Cooperation Pavilion, and an Innovative Ingredients Pavilion. This format provides attendees a holistic view of the agricultural and food industry's landscape—from the initial produce to the final product, all while facilitating interactions from domestic and international markets alike.

A Global Gathering in Dongguan

One of the key highlights of this year’s expo is the dedicated 1,000-square-meter international cooperation exhibition area. This space features six independent national pavilions from Italy, Spain, Brazil, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Kyrgyzstan, alongside three comprehensive international pavilions representing Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, and the International Trade Center (ITC). Visitors have the chance to explore exceptional agricultural resources from all continents, allowing for a vibrant exchange of global flavors right in Dongguan.

Complementing this, events such as the China-Thailand Agricultural and Food Enterprise Economic and Trade Investment Matchmaking and International Buyers' Meeting provided essential networking opportunities to enhance international agricultural trade cooperation further.

Innovative Trends in Pre-made Food

As the go-to exhibition for pre-made foods, the expo emphasizes the significance of adhering to national standards while embracing technological advances. Attendees witnessed an impressive array of new pre-made food products, including ready-to-heat and ready-to-eat options, alongside groundbreaking innovations such as AI cooking equipment and advanced food preservation technology. The introduction of a "Purchase Coupon" program, coupled with the establishment of a professional team of sales experts, fosters streamlined connections between pre-made food enterprises and large-scale distributors within the Greater Bay Area.

In addition to showcasing products, the expo promotes the concepts of technological, green, high-quality, and branded agriculture. This strategic focus also draws attention to the advancements made by agricultural research institutions and highlights the growing trend of digital transformation within the agricultural and food industry.
