Exploring the Impact of Financial Support on Migration Promotion Initiatives

Overview of the Online Report Meeting on Migration Initiatives

On May 28, 2023, the General Association for Promoting DX in Local Governments (GDX) will host an online report meeting about the "2023 Survey on Actual Conditions of Migration and Settlement Policies." Dr. Masato Ito from the International University Global Communication Center will deliver a special lecture entitled "How Effective is Financial Support as a Migration Promotion Strategy?"

This event reflects a decade of local revitalization efforts and aims to discuss whether financial support measures—like relocation subsidies offered by various municipalities—are genuinely effective. Dr. Ito will analyze this fundamental question through a comprehensive lens that includes a survey of potential migrants, interviews with actual settlers, historical assessments dating back to the 1990s, and economic modeling. The conference will objectively evaluate the effectiveness of financial support schemes and propose necessary shifts in current policies with concrete data backing these insights.

Key Highlights from the Meeting
