SMS Welcomes Henrik Nielsen as Chief Financial Officer

On March 12, 2026, SMS, a premier provider of steel mill services and part of FalconPoint Partners' portfolio, announced the appointment of Henrik Nielsen as its Chief Financial Officer. Effective immediately, Nielsen brings more than 25 years of extensive experience to the role, demonstrating an impressive record of financial leadership in the industrial, logistics, and services sectors.

Nielsen's expertise is especially valuable in aligning business objectives with financial strategies, a skill that will serve SMS well as it continues to grow and scale operations. As Jeremy Kirchin, CEO of SMS, emphasized, "Henrik is absolutely the right person to lead SMS's finance organization at this stage of our growth." His previous roles have endowed him with a thorough understanding of developing and managing high-performing teams across international markets, making him well-suited for meeting SMS's ambitious targets.

Prior to joining SMS, Nielsen held the position of Chief Financial Officer of the Americas at WSAudiology, a global leader in hearing healthcare. His time there was marked by significant contributions to the region's finance division and partnerships with senior leadership on strategic initiatives. Furthermore, his earlier role as CFO at Scan Global Logistics in North America saw him playing a pivotal role in steering the business through substantial growth. His career also includes key financial leadership roles at LogPoint A/S and ISS Facility Services, where he oversaw operations in North America, Latin America, and EMEA.

“Henrik has successfully navigated complex, high-growth environments, and has a proven ability to align financial strategy with core business objectives,” commented Andrew Singer, Partner at FalconPoint Partners. The partnership and collaboration between Nielsen, Kirchin, and FalconPoint are expected to accelerate SMS's ongoing development and strengthen its market position.

Nielsen expressed his enthusiasm about joining SMS, stating, “I’m impressed with SMS's commitment to operational excellence and its ability to deliver exceptional customer service. The foundation here is strong, and I see tremendous opportunity to build on that momentum.” His aim will be to collaborate closely with SMS's leadership and partners to drive growth while maximizing value for customers and stakeholders alike.

Since its founding, SMS has built a reputation for fostering long-term customer relationships, enhancing its offerings through innovative technology and state-of-the-art equipment. The services provided span site environmental services, scrap and slag management, handling and processing of raw materials, and marine vessel decommissioning services aimed at the U.S. Maritime Administration and commercial maritime firms.

In summary, with Henrik Nielsen at the financial helm, SMS is poised for a strategic advantage in the competitive steel service sector. His extensive background in financial leadership will undoubtedly support the company as it implements its growth plan and operational improvements.
