Seminar Breakdown

This seminar series is structured in two parts per session: an introductory lecture followed by hands-on exercises. Here’s a glimpse of what each volume will cover:

Vol.5 & Vol.6: Understanding Formulas and References
These sessions will delve into the foundational aspects of Excel, focusing on formulas, referencing (including relative and absolute references), and the basic principles of calculation. Participants will learn how to appropriately use "=" to start a formula, differentiate between relative and absolute references, and understand the implications when copying formulas.

Vol.7 & Vol.8: Basic Functions (SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, etc.)
In these volumes, the focus shifts to mastering essential Excel functions that are frequently used in business scenarios. Students will not only learn how to use functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNT but also how to think critically about how to apply these functions effectively. Exercises will include scenarios such as calculating totals from sales data and understanding the differences between counts of items and numerical values. Each session will culminate in practical exercises for hands-on learning.

About the Presenter

The seminar will be led by Toshimi Furusawa, a certified Small and Medium Enterprise Consultant and IT Coordinator. Furusawa brings a wealth of experience, having started a computer support business in 2001 and also taking on roles as an IT seminar instructor. Well-versed in Office applications including Excel, Furusawa excels in making complex topics accessible to beginners. His focus remains on facilitating productivity improvements in small and medium enterprises.
