Novogradac Launches the 2026 Journal of Tax Credits Awards Season
Novogradac, a premier accounting and consulting firm with over 35 years of expertise, has officially opened submissions for the highly anticipated 2026 Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits Awards. This recognition aims to honor exceptional achievements in the fields of affordable housing, community development, and historic preservation. The awards celebrate various innovative contributions across four distinct categories, each aimed at shining a light on those who make a real difference in their communities.
The
2026 Categories focus on:
1.
Historic Rehabilitation - This category acknowledges creativity in utilizing the historic tax credit to breathe new life into forgotten structures, showcasing innovative rehab projects that maintain historical integrity while serving contemporary needs.
2.
Developments of Distinction - This recognizes projects that have successfully leveraged the low-income housing tax credit or financing from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It highlights the work being done to provide housing solutions for those in need.
3.
Community Development QLICIs of the Year - This award is for the best qualified low-income community investments (QLICIs) made using new markets tax credit financing, which allows for investment in low-income areas attracting new businesses and services.
4.
The Robert E. Ibanez Award - Named after a notable figure in community development, this honor recognizes an individual for their visionary leadership and significant contributions toward advancing community development missions.
Submission Process
To enter the awards, participants can visit Novogradac's awards page and select the category that best fits their submission. The nomination deadline is set for
March 4, 2026. Successful nominees will not only gain national recognition through the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits but will also be celebrated at various conferences scheduled throughout the year.
Award Ceremonies
The awards for the Robert E. Ibanez and Community Development QLICIs of the Year will be presented on
June 4, 2026, during the Novogradac 2026 Spring New Markets Tax Credit Conference, held at the Fairmont in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, the Developments of Distinction awards are slated for
October 1, 2026, during the Novogradac 2026 Housing Tax Credit and Bonds Conference at the Grand Hyatt in Nashville, Tennessee. Finally, the Historic Preservation awards will take place on
October 8, 2026, at the Ritz Carlton in St. Louis during the Novogradac 2026 Historic Tax Credit Conference.
