Daito Trust Construction and Noto Town Sign Agreement for Reconstruction Housing Initiative

Partnership for Reconstruction

On November 28, Daito Trust Construction Co., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, signed a fundamental agreement with Noto Town in Ishikawa Prefecture for the reconstruction public housing project (tentatively named Usuzumi and Matsunami housing complex). This selection emerges from a public solicitation aimed at enhancing local community and living standards following the 2021 Noto Peninsula earthquake. This project aligns with the "Noto Town Reconstruction Plan" established in February 2025, focusing on rebuilding lives and regional communities through residential improvement initiatives.

Project Overview

The plan involves constructing 57 homes using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) for community-oriented living, accommodating the needs of senior residents and people with disabilities. The CLT construction will significantly reduce environmental impact while providing a safe and sustainable living environment for future occupants.

The housing project includes 30 units in the Usuzumi complex and 27 units in the Matsunami complex, emphasizing thoughtful placement and extensive outdoor community spaces that foster social interactions among residents. The fundamental housing construction policy aims to ensure a sustainable living situation for the residents of Noto Town, which experienced the brunt of the seismic distress.

Timeline and Implementation

Construction is set to commence in mid-May 2026, following ongoing design processes and preliminary dismantling operations scheduled to begin in December 2023. The development is anticipated to complete by February 2027, with the handover to residents expected in March afterward to coincide with completion inspections.

Recognition of Daito Trust's Commitment

Daito Trust has received accolades for its commitment to environmental responsibilities. Their recent project, the "Chofu CLT Housing Complex (Forterb III)," was awarded the "2025 Good Design Award" and the "2025 Wood Design Award," reflecting their dedication to innovative housing solutions that minimize ecological footprints.

Ongoing Commitment to Resilience

The collaboration between Daito Trust Construction and Noto Town signifies a commitment to accelerate recovery efforts post-earthquake disaster and foster a secure and enjoyable community environment. Their ongoing initiatives underscore a dual commitment to developing resilient housing while contributing positively to the planet's environmental health.

Conclusion

Noto Town's restoration and the housing project's realization mark a significant step towards revitalizing the community post-disaster. Through innovative building techniques and an unwavering community-first approach, Daito Trust Construction is not only rebuilding homes but also nurturing the spirit of resilience and community for all residents—ensuring that they can thrive in a safe and sustainable environment.
