HunterLab Unveils Vista® L2: The New Standard in Color Measurement with Extended 710 nm Range

Introduction

HunterLab, a leading innovator in color measurement solutions, has officially introduced its latest device, the Vista® L2. This state-of-the-art spectrophotometer boasts an impressive expanded measurement range extending up to 710 nm, setting a new benchmark for color and haze analysis in both transparent and translucent liquids and solids. With advancements in technology and increased processing capabilities, Vista® L2 equips quality control teams across various industries with enhanced tools to ensure product integrity and consistency.

Enhanced Measurement Capabilities

The broader spectral range allows for more precise determination of the actual color reflected as absorbance and turbidity as light dispersion. These advancements are vital for manufacturers striving to identify product instability early in the production process. Moreover, the 710 nm measurement spectrum allows for chlorophyll analysis at specific wavelengths of 630, 670, and 710 nm, complying with the AOCS Cc 13d-55 standard, which is crucial for monitoring oxidation and extending the shelf life of edible oils.

Bob Weaver, the president of HunterLab, remarks, "Quality teams are under pressure to conduct more measurements with tighter timeframes without adding more instruments or personnel. The Vista L2 was designed to meet this reality, enhancing measurement capabilities with existing methods and accessories that our clients already utilize, thereby providing uninterrupted functionality."

Advanced Features and Usability

The Vista L2 retains the geometry of its predecessor, utilizing full-spectrum LED illumination along with an intuitive touchscreen interface. Among its many advancements, it includes 32 GB of internal storage capable of managing millions of measurements, an HDMI output for displaying results on external screens, and an integrated wavelength verification standard to maintain consistent performance. The Essentials L2 software, recognized as one of the industry's best for color analysis, can be updated seamlessly via a USB flash drive or a direct internet connection.

The Vista L2 is the only transmission instrument that applies the Beer-Lambert Law with the precision required to report the absolute color of standard cells and vials. The device automatically generates reports for edible oils at both 5.25 inch and 1-inch path lengths. It reads APHA color in smaller cells than competing systems require, reducing reliance on costly specialized vials.

Furthermore, interchangeable sample holders and bases, which are multifunctional, precise, and self-centering, facilitate the positioning of liquids, vials, cuvettes, translucent plastic preforms, films, and continuous flow samples using magnetic fixtures and positioning pins for repeatable results.

Availability and Support

The Vista L2 has already been rolled out to customers, and interested parties can visit HunterLab's official website for additional information or to request demonstrations. HunterLab, established in 1952, has built a reputation as a global leader in color measurement solutions, serving a range of industries including food and beverages, plastics, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.
