Bye Aerospace and Electro.Aero Join Forces to Advance Electric Aviation Market Growth
In a significant development for the aviation industry, Bye Aerospace has partnered with Electro.Aero to promote the transition towards electric aircraft in the pilot training sector. This collaboration was officially announced on July 23, 2025, during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh aviation exhibition. The partnership aims to create portable rapid charging solutions for Bye Aerospace's eFlyer fleet, merging cutting-edge propulsion technology with next-generation charging infrastructure, providing scalable solutions for the rapidly growing pilot training market.
According to Fortune Business Insights, the global pilot training market was valued at approximately $9.37 billion in 2024 and is forecasted to expand to $24.86 billion by 2032, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.7%. In the United States alone, the pilot training market was estimated at $1.57 billion in 2022, with projections suggesting it will reach $4.93 billion by 2030, showing a substantial CAGR of 15.4%.
Bye Aerospace is approaching a key milestone: the full-size prototype of the eFlyer 2 is being manufactured at Centennial Airport in Colorado. Electro.Aero will provide 40 kW, 80 kW, and 240 kW portable chargers designed for swift charging—specifically, the larger 240 kW charger can power two aircraft simultaneously within just 30 minutes. This high throughput will enable flight schools, leasing companies, and individual owners to achieve significant operational and financial efficiency.
Rod Zastrow, CEO of Bye Aerospace, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “As we prepare for the first flight of our full-size prototype, we are thrilled to collaborate with Electro.Aero to demonstrate the operational benefits of our combined technologies in this underserved pilot training market. The industry needs—and we intend to deliver—aircraft that are cheaper to operate along with efficient charging systems. Being able to charge two aircraft simultaneously in under 30 minutes means our customers will finally be able to keep pace with the demanding tempo of flight training reliably, efficiently, and at dramatically reduced operating costs.”
Electro.Aero's CEO, Joshua Portlock, echoed this sentiment: “We are extremely pleased to partner with the industry leader in purely electric fixed-wing aircraft. We envision that our portable fast chargers will facilitate the numerous all-electric eFlyer flights necessary to increase pilot training for airlines, business aviation, and other purposes.”
This partnership represents a crucial step towards providing commercially viable solutions for electric aviation, addressing both the operational needs and infrastructure gaps in high-demand flight environments.
