Gender Equality Awareness Week Lecture in Machida City
Each year, from June 23 to 29, the Japanese Cabinet Office designates this period as "Gender Equality Awareness Week." In Machida City, efforts are being made to create a society where everyone can live authentically and find purpose. To this end, the city will host a special lecture this year focusing on the theme of gender.
The highlight of this event will be the renowned manga artist
Yukari Takinami, known for her popular works that have been adapted into anime and TV dramas. She will speak about the emotional pain that arises from the rigid expectations of gender roles, specifically how society often confines individuals to predetermined notions of femininity and masculinity.
