The Kawaguchi Building has been in operation since 1993, primarily serving as the site for Japan’s first soil mechanics research institution, initially established in 1952. Some areas have also been repurposed for environmental analysis since the evolution of the Soil Analysis Room, currently known as the Environmental Analysis Room.
With the opening of the Solution Lab in December 2023, requests for improvements to the entrance’s aesthetics and the flow of visitors have prompted this recent renovation.
