For the end customer, this could be more cost-effective since future repairs might only require the replacement of problematic parts."

Towards Sustainable Display Solutions

The new system represents a crucial advancement toward sustainability, marrying the proven benefits of viscoelastic adhesive bonds with properties that support circularity. The bond requires no curing time and reliably accommodates material expansion across the temperature ranges typically experienced in automotive environments. Its fully automated application also makes integration into existing production lines effortless. With a tape width of just 2mm, it enables exceptionally narrow display frames, akin to those found on smartphone screens.

Importantly, the bond can be detached as needed, allowing for swift replacements or touch-ups of display assemblies during production or servicing—eliminating the necessity of replacing entire display modules. The new collaboration utilizes adhesives equipped with Debonding on Demand technology, allowing for the easy detachment of specific bonds.

This feature simplifies the replacement of each display unit throughout the product lifecycle and supports recycling at the end of the vehicle's lifespan. AUMOVIO has already initiated discussions with automotive manufacturers regarding the implementation of recycling and repair programs for specific components.
