Enhancing Pediatric Care Accessibility in Fukaya City
Fukaya City, located about 70 kilometers from central Tokyo, is making strides in child care support with the introduction of 'Pediatric Online.' Starting from June 1, 2025, this initiative from Kids Public, a company based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, aims to improve medical access for children during holidays and nighttime. Citizens in Fukaya will be able to consult with pediatricians through their smartphones, contributing to a more supportive environment for raising children.
Background of Pediatric Online Implementation
Fukaya City, enriched by abundant water resources from the Tone and Arakawa rivers, is renowned for its fertile soil and the famous 'Fukaya leek.' The city is known for its agricultural diversity, with significant production of broccoli, corn, and various flowers like lilies and tulips. Promoting an amalgamation of agriculture and tourism, Fukaya has proposed the 'Vegetable Theme Park Fukaya' project, fostering an attractive urban development strategy.
The city also honors the legacy of Eiichi Shibusawa, recognized as the father of modern Japanese economy, whose philosophies and historical sites continue to be cherished. To support families in raising children, Fukaya has made efforts such as completely subsidizing nursery fees and establishing after-school care facilities within every elementary school. Additionally, the city offers financial assistance for infertility treatments and medical expenses up to the age of 18 and provides parenting information through LINE notifications.
However, a pressing concern among families in the city has been the need for enhanced medical services available during weekends and nights due to a shortage of pediatricians. The city has recognized this urgent necessity and decided to adopt 'Pediatric Online' as part of its efforts to improve accessibility. This service allows parents to consult pediatricians online about various concerns, including health and development issues, from the comfort of their own homes, ultimately aiming for a more secure child-rearing environment.
A Seamless Online Consultation Experience
By facilitating an easy online consultation process, 'Pediatric Online' aims to alleviate the fears surrounding children's health and parenting, significantly contributing to the existing childcare support programs in Fukaya City. With the app, parents can communicate with pediatricians about urgent health issues from anywhere at any time, ensuring their children's immediate needs are met promptly and efficiently.
Service Features
- - Nighttime Consultation: Available Monday to Friday from 6 PM to 10 PM, allowing parents to book a 10-minute slot for direct consultation with pediatricians.
- - Anytime Consultation: A 24/7 service where parents can use a web form to send messages to pediatricians for a one-on-one response.
This innovative approach is expected to make a significant impact on child healthcare in the city. Fukaya Mayor Susumu Kojima stated, “Our city is committed to realizing a community where no one is left behind and everyone is happy. Implementing 'Pediatric Online' will empower families with easier access to pediatric medical advice, contributing to raising healthy and vibrant children.”
