Background and Purpose
As Japan experiences a rapid increase in its aging population, the number of solitary elderly individuals is expected to exceed 10 million by 2050, with over 4 million of them being completely without family support. This demographic reality has resulted in many facing significant challenges, particularly in obtaining necessary services such as hospitalization or admission to care facilities due to the lack of a designated guardian.
Recognizing these challenges, Akari Hoshou believes that addressing issues surrounding isolation and the unfortunate phenomenon of 'lonely deaths' among solo individuals can be more effectively tackled through collaboration with professionals in the field. This community, Shu-Sapo, was established to provide a space where businesses dedicated to supporting solo individuals can connect, learn from each other, and work together toward a common goal.
