The Microsoft Alumni Network, an influential organization representing over 290,000 former Microsoft employees, is making waves with its recent global board expansion. Announced on January 8, 2026, this strategic move aims to deepen the network's governance and broaden its global perspective, further enhancing its commitment to alumni connections.

The newly appointed board will consist of eight distinguished trustees who bring a wealth of experience and insights to the community. This expansion reflects the network's mission to foster connections among its members across continents, amplify skill development programs, and generate social impact on a global scale.

“By expanding leadership across continents, we’re building a truly global network,” said Executive Director Manuela Papadopol. Founded in 1995, the Microsoft Alumni Network has consistently attracted leaders who exemplify innovation and community responsibility. The new trustees come from diverse backgrounds and experiences:

  • - Declan Bradshaw: With a 22-year career at Microsoft, Declan played crucial roles in the European launch of Xbox and the global rollout of Surface products. He is now the club lead for Microsoft Alumni Network - Ireland.
  • - George Durham: Joining in 2004, George led various community engagement initiatives and now serves as a partner at Cicero.
  • - Erendira Gonzalez: A Microsoft veteran for 30 years, Erendira has held several leadership roles, including the launch of the first Microsoft Technology Center in Latin America.
  • - Bill Kirst: Formerly Director of Change for Commercial Systems at Microsoft, Bill currently works as an AI Ambassador at Adobe.
  • - Laura Luethe: As the director of communications in HR at Microsoft, Laura drives strategic communication efforts as part of her roles.
  • - Somanna Palacanda: Acting as an executive sponsor, Somanna leads Microsoft Elevate’s International Social Impact.
  • - Michelle September: With 18 years at Microsoft, Michelle is now the founder of Argo Consulting, focusing on leadership within the Microsoft Alumni Network - Africa.
  • - Andrew Winnemore: Also an executive sponsor, Andrew currently serves as the Vice President for HR People Operations at Microsoft.

This strategic team aims to harness the vast expertise and insights of the alumni community.
