Dr. Che currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Community Alliance, an organization dedicated to addressing the needs of individuals facing severe and persistent mental illnesses. His leadership includes managing a team of three psychiatrists and three advanced practice professionals, creating a supportive environment for both patients and staff alike.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Che also holds the position of Medical Director at Norfolk Regional Center. Here, he leads a group specializing in treating patients with mental illnesses and complex medical comorbidities, exemplifying his dedication to vulnerable populations. Broad Experience in Psychiatry
Dr. Che's impressive career trajectory is enhanced by his diverse experiences across various clinical settings. After completing his psychiatry residency, he worked as a Travel Psychiatrist with the Hospital Corporation of America in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He further expanded his expertise through roles at several prominent medical centers, including the University of Vermont Medical Center and the Central Vermont Medical Center. His wide-ranging experience encompasses emergency psychiatry, inpatient care, and intensive outpatient programs, underscoring his adaptability in serving psychiatric patients at multiple levels of care across the United States.
Dr. Che earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from Grambling State University. Subsequently, he obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Following an internship in internal medicine, he worked in urgent care, family medicine, and correctional health, serving as a Medical Director for Lancaster County Jail and providing primary care at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.
His residency in psychiatry was completed at the Creighton University Medical Center/University of Nebraska program, where he now contributes as adjunct faculty. His affiliations with the American Psychiatric Association, the Nebraska Psychiatric Association, and the American Medical Association highlight his commitment to the field.
Commitment to Community and Mentorship
In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Che serves as the Director of Mental Health for the Femi Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare access for the African community in Nebraska. His work is not only professional; it embodies a personal mission to ensure equitable healthcare for marginalized groups.
Dr. Che credits many mentors for guiding his journey, notably Michael Boyars, MD, and Lisa Cain, Ph.D. Their support, along with that of his parents and eight siblings, has played a pivotal role in shaping his values.
