AAON Achieves Impressive First Quarter Growth with Record Sales and Backlog

AAON Reports Remarkable Q1 2026 Outcomes

AAON, Inc. has declared outstanding financial performance for the first quarter of 2026, showcasing a remarkable surge in both sales and earnings, attributed to robust market demand and enhanced production capabilities. The company, recognized as a leader in high-performance, energy-efficient HVAC solutions, revealed that net sales have soared by 54.3%, achieving $496.9 million, marking a substantial increase from $322.1 million in the same quarter last year.

The growth in sales has been predominantly fueled by the strong demand experienced across both the AAON and BASX brands. Specifically, the BASX-branded products reported a staggering growth of 72.4%, achieving $228.6 million in sales, while AAON-branded products increased by 41.6%, reaching $268.4 million. This upward trajectory in sales is complemented by the company’s ongoing investments in capacity and operational enhancements, which have facilitated an acceleration in production throughput.

The operating margins also demonstrated a favorable trend, benefiting from improved utilization rates, and the gross profit margin was reported at 25.1%, albeit a slight decline from the prior-year's 26.8%. This reduction stems from fixed costs that have not yet been absorbed due to recent capacity expansions, as well as strategic temporary outsourcing arrangements to manage the increased growth pace. Notably, SG&A expenses as a percentage of sales have decreased by 220 basis points, illustrating effective cost management and strong operational leverage.

Earnings per diluted share experienced significant growth, increasing by 37.1% to $0.48, a stark contrast to the $0.35 seen in Q1 2025. President and CEO Matt Tobolski highlighted these results as a reflection of AAON’s commitment to enhancing production capabilities while maintaining a focus on driving both throughput and profitability. He emphasized that the visible backlog, particularly for BASX-branded products, paves the way for sustained growth opportunities throughout the year.

Backlog and Future Outlook

As of the end of March, AAON's total backlog witnessed a remarkable jump of 107.4%, amounting to $2.1 billion. This increase has been significantly influenced by the sustained demand from the data center sector, which contributes to strong booking activity, thereby positioning AAON for fruitful operational expansions.

The forecast for 2026 has been adjusted upwards, expecting revenue growth of 40%-45% and gross margins around 27%-28%. This enhanced outlook is underpinned by record backlog levels, expanded capacity, and ongoing improvements in operational performance. AAON’s management demonstrates confidence in realizing these projections as they continue to navigate a competitive landscape characterized by fluctuating market demands.

Dr. Tobolski noted, “We are excited by the commencement of 2026 and the growing momentum evident across our operations. Our focus remains steadfast on executing growth strategies, leveraging systems capacity, and fostering customer satisfaction.”

As part of this strategic execution, the company aims to convert backlog into revenue while ensuring disciplined margin improvements over forthcoming periods. The robust performance in Q1 2026 not only highlights AAON's strong market positioning but also reaffirms its commitment to delivering efficient solutions that promise long-term benefits to its customers and stakeholders.

AAON's capability to adapt to changing market conditions while driving innovation positions it favorably to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the HVAC sector, ensuring continued growth as it advances through 2026. Investors and stakeholders alike are encouraged to stay engaged as the company hosts regular updates and discussions to elaborate on quarterly results and future initiatives.
