Northwest Bank Opens New Financial Center in Central Ohio

On July 29, 2026, Northwest Bank celebrated a significant milestone with the grand opening of its first financial center in Central Ohio, located at 5746 N. Hamilton Road in New Albany. This event marks not only the opening of a new facility but also a deeper commitment by Northwest Bank to invest in the community and expand its footprint in the region.

The ceremony was attended by Northwest Bank leaders along with local community and civic leaders, highlighting the bank's focus on building strong relationships within the communities it serves. Lou Torchio, the president and CEO of Northwest Bank, emphasized the importance of this opening as a reflection of the bank's commitment to Central Ohio. "We’re proud to be a member of this community and look forward to growing alongside our customers, partners, and neighbors," he stated.

The newly designed financial center features a modern, open-concept layout aimed at enhancing customer experience and fostering personalized banking relationships. This innovative design includes a living room-style meeting space which facilitates meaningful financial discussions, alongside convenient self-service banking options. Urich Bowers, chief consumer banking and strategy officer, noted that this atmosphere allows the bank to provide relationship-focused service that differentiates them from other financial institutions.

During the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, representatives acknowledged local community partners and reiterated Northwest’s long-standing commitment to service. The bank actively engages with several organizations such as Healthy New Albany, the New Albany Symphony Orchestra, the New Albany Community Foundation, the United Way of Central Ohio, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Ohio. This collaborative effort demonstrates Northwest's commitment to creating a robust local presence that transcends traditional banking.

"Even before opening our doors, we’ve forged connections within Columbus, and we aim to continue strengthening those relationships and supporting this community as we grow," stated Jennifer Gibson, region president and executive director of retail banking for Northwest.

The New Albany center is the first of four planned openings in Central Ohio for this year, with additional centers slated for Gahanna and Westerville. Another location is also anticipated in Columbus by the first quarter of 2027. As Northwest Bank expands its services, it remains dedicated to creating a welcoming and accessible banking environment, as evidenced by their modern designs and community-focused initiatives.

Founded in 1896, Northwest Bancshares, Inc., the parent company of Northwest Bank, offers a complete range of personal and business banking services, including employee benefits and wealth management. With 152 full-service financial centers scattered across Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and Indiana, Northwest provides fee-free access to over 55,000 ATMs and is committed to ensuring that customers have a seamless banking experience.

As Northwest Bank continues to grow and adapt, it is evident that their focus remains not just on financial transactions but on fostering a sense of community and engagement that positions them as a valued asset to Central Ohio. Looking ahead, the bank’s strategy reflects a dedication to innovation in personal banking and a commitment to building lasting relationships with those they serve. This grand opening is just the beginning of a broader journey as Northwest Bank solidifies its role in the fabric of the Central Ohio community.
