In conjunction with the launch of the Narita-Delhi route, JAL and IndiGo Airlines, which has the largest domestic market share in India at over 60%, have reached a basic agreement to initiate code-sharing on these three routes connecting Japan and India. This partnership aims to improve passenger convenience for travelers moving between the two countries. Code-sharing agreements between IndiGo’s domestic flights in India and JAL’s Southeast Asia routes have been ongoing, helping smoothly facilitate travel across these regions.

Expanding Tokyo-India Network

The demand for travel between Japan and India is undergoing significant growth, particularly owing to the increasing importance of India as a global economic player. The country's IT and software industries are renowned worldwide, attracting numerous companies that rely on India as a key outsourcing center.

In light of these trends, JAL's collaboration with IndiGo and Malaysia Airlines (members of the Oneworld alliance) aims to enhance overall convenience for travelers moving throughout Japan and India. With a promising outlook for the increase in both passenger and freight movement, the airlines strive to offer improved accessibility and efficiency.

Narita Hub Expansion Towards North America

Japan Airlines currently operates flights from Narita to seven destinations in North America. The Narita-Delhi route has been meticulously designed to provide seamless connections to various regions across North America, ensuring that travelers can efficiently transition from India to points beyond.

Having established regular flights to Delhi on May 4, 1965, JAL has played an instrumental role in fostering economic development and cultural exchange between Japan and India over nearly six decades. With the launch of the Narita-Delhi route marking the 60th anniversary of service to Delhi, JAL is poised to further invigorate economic exchanges between the countries and strengthen bilateral relations.

Going forward, JAL is committed to refining its route network while enhancing passenger convenience, comfort, and the quality of services provided. This strategic initiative is not just a pathway for travel but a bridge between cultures and economies, promising significant benefits for travelers in both nations.

As Japan Airlines looks to the future, the new Narita-Delhi route marks a pivotal step in expanding their contribution to Japan-lndia relations, especially as mutual economic interests continue to grow in an increasingly interconnected world.
