Turning Rock Partners Welcomes Shahid Khoja as New Head of Credit

Turning Rock Partners (TRP), a private investment firm based in New York, has officially named Shahid Khoja as its new Head of Credit. With nearly two decades of extensive experience in both public and private credit investing, Khoja is expected to bring significant value to the organization, especially in areas like opportunistic credit and structured products.

Prior to his new role at Turning Rock, Khoja distinguished himself as the Managing Director and Head of Credit at Z Capital Group (ZCG). There, he led a 12-member investment team and was responsible for overseeing the firm's overall credit strategy. His tenure at ZCG was marked by solid investment execution across various funds, which included strategies focused on opportunistic credit and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). Khoja also played a vital role in capital formation and investor engagement throughout his time at ZCG.

Before joining ZCG, Khoja was a Director at Garrison Investment Group. His focus there included private credit, syndicated loans, and opportunities involving stressed or distressed assets. Khoja began his career in the Corporate Credit Products group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Bowdoin College.

Erin Andrew, Senior Managing Director at Turning Rock, expressed confidence in Khoja's capabilities, stating, "Sha is a proven investor and leader with a strong track record across complex credit strategies. His collaborative approach and commitment to performance make him an ideal addition to our partnership."

Khoja’s relationship with TRP's founding team, particularly his prior experience working alongside professionals from Fortress Investment Group, further solidifies his connection to the firm’s culture and long-term investment philosophy. "We are excited to welcome Sha as our partner," remarked David Markus, highlighting Khoja's extensive experience and leadership in credit investing as critical for the firm’s growth and ability to craft unique credit solutions for growth-oriented businesses.

Expressing enthusiasm about joining the team, Khoja said, "I'm excited to join the Turning Rock team and help build on the firm's thoughtful, long-term approach to investing in growing businesses. Turning Rock's focus on credit and equity solutions for growing companies aligns closely with my experience and passion for creative, value-driven investing."
