In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting sustainable practices, FP Co. and Tenmaya Store have declared a collaborative effort to support horizontal recycling under the concept of 'Store to Store.' This innovative approach will be implemented across 46 Tenmaya Store locations, focused on recycling used food trays and PET bottles collected in their stores into new food trays and transparent containers. The vision is for these stores to become eco-leaders within their communities, encouraging local residents to bring their used food trays and PET bottles to dedicated collection boxes situated in the stores.
The collected food trays and PET bottles are to be repurposed by FP Co. into eco-friendly products such as 'Eco Trays,' 'Eco APET,' and 'Eco OPET.' These products will then be reused on the sales floor of Tenmaya stores, embodying the principles of horizontal recycling, where resources are kept in the same application before and after recycling.
As of February 2025, FP Co. and Tenmaya Stores have already seen impressive results from their initiative. The total collection weight of used food trays reached 73.3 tons, and the materials transformed into 'Eco Trays' and similar products contributed to a reduction of 204 tons of CO2 emissions. This metric illustrates the significant environmental impact their collaboration is making, with tangible benefits for both the local community and the planet.
Looking ahead, FP Co. and Tenmaya Store plan to continue their efforts, with a goal of utilizing eco-products consistently and aiming to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 220 tons by February 2026. They emphasize the importance of raising awareness among the community and engaging more individuals in their environmentally-conscious initiatives. By working closely with local residents and other stakeholders, both companies are committed to fostering a culture of sustainability.
