Aignostics and PanCAN Join Forces to Propel Pancreatic Cancer Research
Aignostics, a pioneering company in the field of artificial intelligence-driven pathology, has recently forged a significant new partnership with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). This collaboration aims to harness Aignostics' advanced artificial intelligence technology to analyze one of the most comprehensive pancreatic cancer datasets available.
The project at hand will involve the application of Aignostics’ spatial profiling tool, Atlas HE-TME, in conjunction with the SPARK platform provided by PanCAN. This initiative promises to facilitate the generation of spatial profiling readouts that can offer fresh insights into the biology of pancreatic cancer. Aignostics’ sophisticated tool can perform quality assessments of tissues, classify cells, and meticulously segment tissue, yielding over 4,500 quantitative measurements from a single image.
Understanding pancreatic cancer remains a formidable challenge in the medical community, as progress in treatment efficacy has only been modest over the past few decades. Historically, the deeply immunosuppressive nature of the disease has hindered the success of emerging therapies. Through the integration of Atlas HE-TME with PanCAN's extensive dataset, researchers are presented with innovative resources to decode the underlying biology of this complex cancer type and to ultimately improve patient outcomes.
Viktor Matyas, CEO of Aignostics, expressed pride in contributing to the SPARK initiative, stating, "PanCAN has created something truly remarkable with SPARK, and we are thrilled to enhance its capabilities for researchers. Expanding access to high-quality spatial profiling data is critical to our mission of turning complex pathological data into actionable insights for patients."
Meanwhile, Sudheer Doss, PhD, Chief Business Officer at PanCAN, emphasized the importance of combining AI tools with accessible data sets. He stated, "This collaboration brings powerful AI capabilities to the SPARK dataset, transforming intricate data into valuable biological information that can catalyze improvements in patient outcomes. By adding spatial information to this multimodal dataset, we can better understand tumor development and interactions with their microenvironments, potentially unveiling new avenues for treatment discoveries."
