Nurturing Future Leaders: A Significant Internship Event by IISIA

IISIA's Internship Event: A Gateway for Future Leaders

The Institute for International Strategy and Information Analysis (IISIA), led by Chairman and CEO Takeo Harada, recently held a significant internship information session for students on May 21, 2025, in Shibuya, Tokyo. Since its establishment in 2007, IISIA has prioritized the development of young talent, and this recent event aimed at connecting with students from prestigious universities, including the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, and Keio University.

By the end of the session, more than half of the attendees expressed interest in applying for internships at IISIA. A selection process was subsequently conducted by the research institute, and successful candidates have begun visiting the IISIA office to finalize their internship contracts.

IISIA is currently engaged in an ambitious project that involves creating a searchable database of its research analysis reports developed over the past 18 years. This project employs state-of-the-art language models to vectorize data collected, enabling a refined retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system. The data intended for storage includes two types: written text and audio data that has been transcribed into text using AI. While the preliminary processing of text data is already completed, the work on transcribing audio data has recently commenced. The extensive amount of audio data poses a significant challenge, but utilizing the RAG system will enhance the output quality significantly.

To accelerate this process, the announcement invited students to take part in the transcription of audio data as interns. This internship presents a unique opportunity for students to acquire essential skills and knowledge in artificial intelligence (AI), experiencing the implementation of these technologies in a cutting-edge workplace.

The audio data slated for transcription originates from IISIA's previous global finance and geopolitical risk reports. By reviewing the AI-generated transcriptions, interns will gain access to the latest insights—knowledge that is often unavailable in traditional university settings. The process begins with the students using AI algorithms to transcribe specified audio data, followed by the quality assurance of those transcriptions. Depending on their skill level and familiarity, interns may collaborate with more advanced teams coding AI algorithms or gain access to exclusive
