Truecaller Nomination Committee Recommends New Board Member Aruna Sundararajan

Truecaller Proposes Aruna Sundararajan as New Board Member

On April 23, 2025, Truecaller's Nomination Committee announced a significant recommendation for its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for May 23, 2025. The Committee has put forward Ms. Aruna Sundararajan as a candidate for election as a new board member. This nomination comes alongside proposals for the re-election of all current board members, ensuring continuity in leadership while introducing fresh expertise.

Ms. Sundararajan brings an impressive background within the technology sector, particularly regarding policy and regulatory matters in India. With an extensive career that includes serving as Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), as well as holding key positions in the Department of Telecommunications and the Digital Communications Commission, she is well-equipped to contribute to Truecaller's strategic direction. Her history as Kerala's first IT Secretary, where she facilitated major digital infrastructure initiatives and e-learning projects, showcases her ability to drive technology policy effectively.

Currently, Ms. Sundararajan serves as the Chairperson of the Broadband India Forum, a critical think tank that addresses telecom and digital issues. Additionally, she is part of the advisory board for the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) and sits on the boards of several prominent companies, including Delhivery Limited, Info Edge (India) Limited, and LT Technology Services Limited, as well as India's National Bank of Infrastructure Financing and Development (NaBFID).

Expressing satisfaction with the nomination, Kamjar Hajabdolahi, the chairman of Truecaller’s Nomination Committee, stated, "We are very pleased with the nomination of Aruna Sundararajan as a new board member of Truecaller. Her extensive experience in technology policy and regulatory affairs, along with her board roles in notable companies, will undoubtedly enrich the collective expertise of our board. With this addition, the board will now consist of six members with diverse competencies and experiences."

This proposed nomination aims to strengthen the board's overall capabilities, particularly in navigating the complex landscape of technology regulations and policies. Ms. Sundararajan's independent status from the company and significant shareholders underscores the objective nature of her contributions to the board’s discussions and decisions.

The details surrounding the other proposals from the Nomination Committee, alongside a motivated statement, will be shared in conjunction with the notice for the AGM, offering shareholders a comprehensive understanding of the planned direction for Truecaller.

As Truecaller continues to enhance its services—recently surpassing 450 million monthly active users—it is increasingly focused on maintaining a board that reflects the diverse expertise necessary to lead the company through the complexities of the digital economy. The nomination of Ms. Sundararajan marks an important step in ensuring Truecaller remains at the forefront of communication technology while fostering trust and efficiency in user interactions.
