The Art of Ukiyo-e

Both woodblock prints are carefully crafted using pure hand-carving and hand-printing methods passed down through generations. The artists involved are members of the Ukiyo-e woodblock printing preservation society, recognized for their adherence to techniques classified as Important Intangible Cultural Heritage by Japan’s cultural government.

The quality of the prints is heightened by the use of Echizen washi, a premium paper crafted by Iwano Ichibei, recognized as a National Living Treasure. Made entirely of mulberry by hand, this paper is known for its durability and delicate texture, contributing to the vibrancy of colors in the woodblock prints.
