JDEnergy Commissions Its First Overseas Utility-Scale Project in Hungary
In a notable milestone for renewable energy development, JDEnergy has successfully achieved the grid connection of its first overseas utility-scale energy storage project located in Hungary. This project, featuring an 11 MW/22 MWh capacity, represents a significant advancement in energy storage solutions and is expected to enhance the utilization of renewable sources in the region.
The project witnessed the attendance of Csaba Lantos, Hungary's Minister of Energy, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Lantos praised the achievement as a key development in the cooperative energy efforts between China and Hungary. The strategic geographical location of Hungary in Central Europe combined with its increasing renewable energy generation capacity underscores the growing need for effective energy storage solutions. Energy storage has emerged as a vital component for the advancement of renewable energy systems. It enables the absorption and management of fluctuations in energy generation that arise from variable sources such as wind and solar. This specific venture was rigorously designed to meet the stringent safety, stability, and operational standards mandated by Hungarian grid requirements, assuring compatibility across the broader European market.
Throughout the project's lifecycle, JDEnergy adhered to meticulous delivery protocols, overseeing critical phases including installation, commissioning, grid connections, and comprehensive testing procedures. The installation of the inaugural eBlock-418A energy storage unit took place on January 16, with a total of 53 units successfully activated by April 1. Impressively, the on-site commissioning process was completed within a mere two days. During the grid connection testing phase, the system showcased remarkable performance—recording no major failures and ensuring full compliance with essential operational parameters. This achievement culminated in an official certification from TÜV Rheinland.
Moreover, on April 23, the system passed the automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR) accreditation test conducted by MAVIR, further reinforcing its reliability and operational capability.
Designed specifically to support a local wind farm, this energy storage installation is projected to enhance the efficiency of wind power usage and play a crucial role in Hungary's transition to a more sustainable energy landscape.
