Public Technologies Launches Ride-Sharing Initiative in Nagano's Miyota Town

Public Technologies, a GovTech startup based in Tokyo, is collaborating with Miyota Town in Nagano Prefecture to launch a public ride-sharing service known as the "Miyota Town Public Ride Share". This pilot program, which utilizes the company's cutting-edge "PubTech AI Dispatch" system, aims to improve transportation options for local residents beginning on December 1, 2025.

The Need for Improved Transportation in Miyota

Miyota Town currently lacks adequate public transport services such as buses, severely limiting mobility options for its residents. This has created significant challenges, particularly for elderly individuals and children needing to commute to school or attend extracurricular activities. The town has recognized the urgent need for a flexible transportation solution that aligns with its community's unique living environment.

Public Technologies has been selected to implement the "PubTech AI Dispatch" due in part to their commitment to provide not just operational support but also to engage with the community to effectively meet its transportation needs. The design of this ride-sharing program will be continually refined based on real-time feedback from residents.

The initiative will cater to the daily needs of residents across Miyota Town. It primarily focuses on providing transportation for the elderly and children, addressing multiple travel purposes such as shopping, medical appointments, and commuting to school. The ride-sharing system will employ a door-to-door service to ensure convenient transportation options for all users.

Furthermore, the program's design promotes sustainability and efficiency through shared rides, thereby reducing the carbon footprint associated with individualized transport. Residents will be able to book rides using both the mobile app and a dedicated call center, ensuring that the service is accessible to all demographics.

Understanding PubTech AI Dispatch

At the core of this initiative is the "PubTech AI Dispatch," an AI-driven dispatch system designed specifically for local governments. This tool automates the calculation of optimal vehicle allocations, routes, and carpooling options based on user bookings. The program will be executed from December 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026, running primarily from Monday to Saturday, excluding holidays. The rides will have a flat fare of 400 yen, and discounts will be available for those with disabilities and students.
