Introducing the Innovative IC110R Crawler Carrier with High Load Capacity and Safety Features

The New IC110R Crawler Carrier: A Game-Changer in Heavy Lifting

Overview

Kato Works Co., Ltd., based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has recently launched its latest model of the fully revolving crawler carrier, the IC110R. With a maximum load capacity of 11 tons, this new addition promises to maintain an excellent balance between transportability and safety, marking a significant advancement in the realm of transport machinery for infrastructural development and disaster recovery operations.

Development Background

Crawler carriers have become integral in diverse applications, ranging from infrastructure maintenance to forestry and disaster responses. Traditionally, these machines struggled with efficiency and safety concerns. To address these challenges, Kato Works developed the IC70R in 2023, pioneering a new design philosophy that emphasizes a low center of gravity, compactness, and superior safety features.

Building upon this foundation, the IC110R is designed to carry a maximum weight of 11 tons while boasting a compact body that enhances both transportability and safety. This model is tailor-made for large civil engineering projects and disaster recovery tasks, reaffirming Kato Works' commitment to meeting market demands through continuous innovation in crawler carrier technology.

Key Features

1. Transportability

The IC110R boasts the smallest dimensions in its class, significantly enhancing its transport and entry capabilities with a total length of 5,590mm, width of 2,670mm, and height of 2,700mm.

2. Performance and Operability

Equipped with a newly designed high-strength, large-capacity cargo bed made from wear-resistant steel, the IC110R substantially improves loading capacity, demonstrating a volume of 6.1 cubic meters (heaped) and a maximum load capacity of 11 tons.

Enhanced Mobility

The new control mechanism for the operating motor minimizes transmission shocks caused by road surface loads, resulting in improved driving performance and a smoother ride.

A fresh 10.1-inch touchscreen integrated monitor consolidates air conditioning and camera functionalities into one large display. This assists operators in monitoring vehicle status and load information, enhancing visibility and operability, with control options available via a jog dial.

3. Safety

The design prioritizes visibility, with optimized layout ensuring extensive view from the driver's seat. The incorporation of right-side and rear cameras diminishes blind spots, enhancing the safety of operations.

Low Center of Gravity Design

With a minimum ground clearance of 620mm maintained, the IC110R ensures stability across all directions during travel while reducing the risk of tipping accidents.

Additionally, adjusting the engine and cargo bed's center of gravity closer to the machine's center improves stability during turns and on slopes.

The new downhill speed limit feature mitigates the risk of engine overrun, which can occur when the vehicle's weight causes a speed increase beyond the engine’s control parameters on a decline.

Speed Limiting Features

Driving and turning speeds are controlled based on vehicle conditions to bolster safety.

4. Maintenance

A large cover for the engine room facilitates easier everyday inspections and radiator cleaning by enlarging the access area. Space-efficient foldable steps provide access to the upper section while preventing damage from impacts. A drain cock in the fuel tank streamlines the disposal of water and cleaning processes.

5. Comfort

Significant changes to the layout of the driver’s cab have increased livability, modernizing switch placements and expanding space around the right foot area.
