World Cities Summit 2026: A Meeting of Urban Visionaries
The
10th World Cities Summit (WCS) is set to take place from
June 14 to 16, 2026, in
Singapore. This prestigious biennial event is organized by the
Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and the
Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), aimed at gathering leaders from governments, industry, and academia to address pressing urban challenges.
WCS has, over the years, established itself as a significant global platform. The previous nine editions welcomed over
140,000 delegates from more than
250 cities. In the last summit in 2024, nearly
3,500 delegates participated, including
115 ministers and mayors, exemplifying the summit's role as a melting pot for urban insights and collaborative solutions.
The theme for this year,
“Liveable and Sustainable Cities ACT Now!”, emphasizes the urgent call to
Accelerate,
Collaborate, and
Transform urban spaces. This message is more relevant than ever as cities around the world grapple with challenges such as climate change, affordable housing, urban health, and sustainable infrastructure.
Notable Speakers and Participants
Among the confirmed speakers for WCS 2026 is
Lawrence Wong, Singapore's Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. Other city leaders from major cities like
Berlin,
London,
Madrid, and
Bogotá are also expected to share their insights. This diverse gathering underscores the importance of city-to-city collaboration in tackling shared urban issues.
Participants will engage in discussions across six thematic tracks:
- - Cities for People
- - Resilient Regenerative Cities
- - Smart Cities
- - Financing for Cities
- - Future Cities
- - WRLDCTY Connections Stage
Each track features a series of plenaries, discussions, masterclasses, and roundtables crafted in partnership with notable international organizations such as the
World Bank Group,
C40 Cities, and the
United Nations Development Programme. These discussions are designed to directly influence how urban challenges are addressed on a global scale.
Focus on Collaboration and Solutions
The WCS 2026 also aims to integrate practical solutions into discussions. The
“WRLDCTY Connections Stage” will explore themes of
liveability,
lovability, and
longevity in urban spaces by showcasing experiences from various regions. Moreover, practitioner-led masterclasses and targeted site visits promise to enhance understanding of the thematic tracks through hands-on experiences.
As a part of its contribution to the global urban agenda, the summit has engaged numerous international organizations, reinforcing its centrality to discussions on climate change and other urban issues. The
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will hold a session featuring a roundtable with scientists, mayors, and urban experts to delve into the
IPCC's Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SRCities).
WCS 2026 serves as a prime opportunity for urban professionals, community leaders, and policy makers to network, draw inspiration, and build partnerships aimed at redefining the future of cities worldwide. This landmark event not only fosters knowledge exchange but is also a call to action for cities to innovate and collaborate more effectively.
