Charlie Collins Joins RTX Fintech to Lead Expansion in European Markets

RTX Fintech Expands with New European Leadership

In a significant move to enhance its presence in the European financial markets, RTX Fintech & Research has announced the hiring of Charlie Collins as the Head of Markets, Europe. This decision comes as part of the company’s strategy to expand its electronic interdealer trading platform dedicated to interest rate swaps and derivatives. Collins will collaborate closely with RTX Fintech’s CEO, James Cawley, and Christopher Jonns, the Global Head of Markets, to implement the company's expansion plan in the European landscape.

With an impressive background in the finance sector, Collins is expected to play a critical role in shaping RTX's strategy for entering and competing in the European market. His prior experience at Tradeweb from 2011 to 2024 has equipped him with the insights and skills needed to drive this initiative. During his tenure at Tradeweb, Collins successfully oversaw various cross-asset projects, including leading European credit operations, thereby establishing a robust network and understanding of the industry's intricate dynamics.

Collins expressed enthusiasm about joining RTX Fintech, sharing, "I'm thrilled to join the RTX team which is on a mission of much-needed disruption of the swaps market. RTX is leading the drive towards electronification of what is a traditionally voice-driven part of the market. They've made great strides to do so in the U.S., and I couldn't be more excited to extend that innovation to Europe."

This leadership change comes at a time when RTX Fintech is looking to capitalize on growing market opportunities in Europe, particularly in the G20 interest rate swap markets. According to Jonns, the addition of Collins could significantly amplify RTX's capacity to execute trades and explore new opportunities in this competitive environment. He stated, "With the addition of Charlie, we're positioned to dramatically scale our execution capabilities and penetrate new opportunities across G20 interest rate swap markets. His deep market knowledge in electronic trading will be key as we broaden our product footprint and expand dealer participation across regions."

Earlier, RTX Fintech launched its innovative Request for Trade electronic trading protocol for USD swaps, which marked a pivotal point in the company’s trajectory. This protocol, released approximately 20 months ago, has gained traction, supported by multiple bank liquidity providers that have established 18 dealers active in the US market. As RTX continues to develop its platform and improve dealer engagement globally, the influx of expertise from Collins can greatly influence the momentum of their European launch.

RTX Fintech is not just another player in the derivatives trading sector; it aims to revolutionize the industry through its advanced technology. Its Request-for-Trade technology offers unique efficiencies and cost savings for derivatives dealers and Eligible Contract Participants (ECPs). The platform centralizes negotiations, provides real-time trade surveillance, and ensures transparent transactions, addressing the existing challenges faced in the derivatives market.

Founded by seasoned professionals who possess comprehensive experience in the interdealer swaps arena, RTX is reinforced by some of the world’s largest financial institutions. This strong backing positions the firm favorably to tackle the limitations of traditional trading models, particularly through the utilization of cloud-based technologies that enhance user experiences.

While Collins steps into his new role, the industry will closely monitor how his leadership helps RTX Fintech navigate the complexities of European markets and reshape the future of electronic trading in derivatives. Their mission to promote a more efficient market aligns perfectly with the dynamics of current market demands, and the collaboration between regional leadership and corporate strategy could very well lead to a paradigm shift in interest rate swap trading across Europe.

With an exciting and ambitious roadmap ahead, RTX Fintech appears ready to make significant strides in the highly competitive landscape of European finance, with Charlie Collins at the helm steering these efforts towards success.
