Exploring Nature and Humanity Through the 'Seesaws' Exhibit at WHAT CAFE

'Seesaws' Exhibition at WHAT CAFE

From September 11 to 23, 2025, WHAT CAFE, operated by Terada Warehouse Co., Ltd in Shinagawa, Tokyo, will hold a remarkable exhibition titled 'Seesaws'. This event features 19 talented female artists guided by guest curator Reiko Itabashi, showcasing unique artworks that prompt viewers to reflect on their identity amidst the shifting values of contemporary society.

With the theme focusing on the relationship between nature and humanity, the exhibition intends to illuminate diverse perspectives through a variety of materials and techniques. Visitors can expect works made from plants, textiles, and more, each presenting a narrative connecting nature’s cycles with human activity. For instance, one might see how seeds sprout into plants, which in turn nourish silkworms and sheep, resulting in threads that get woven into fabric. This cycle signifies not only a physical relationship with nature but also introspection into our existence and purpose within today’s fast-paced world.

The title 'Seesaws' metaphorically depicts the balancing act of changing values while simultaneously nodding towards the phrase 'She saw', alluding to the individual perspectives of the artists involved. This exhibit is a part of the 'TENNOZ ART WEEK 2025', underlining its cultural significance.
