Delivering the Joy of Music to Children: A Heartwarming Concert in Katsushika, Tokyo

Promoting Music to Children in Katsushika, Tokyo

On August 4, 2026, a delightful initiative unfolded at the Kanamachi After-School Club in Katsushika, Tokyo, as part of the "Delivering Music to Children Project". Organized by the Japan Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (JASME) in partnership with the 1 Million Classical Live Foundation and Asuka Corporation, this event witnessed a stellar performance by renowned musicians, Aoi Michelle on the violin and Takako Izumi on the piano. The thirty-minute concert, which started at 11:00 AM, aimed to provide children with a rare opportunity to experience first-hand the vibrancy and vitality of live classical music.

As the musicians began to play, the children's eyes lit up with excitement, immersing themselves in an experience that transcended traditional learning environments. They listened intently as the subtleties of the musicians' breath and the resonance of the instruments created a genuine musical experience. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm, and applause erupted spontaneously at the end of the performance, symbolizing the warm connection forged between the performers and the young audience.

Educators present noted the significant impact of this live experience on the children. One remarked, “While they might see instruments through videos or television, nothing compares to experiencing real music up close.” This concert successfully bridged the gap often observed in cultural and artistic experiences, especially for children from diverse backgrounds, offering them a moment of inspiration and joy.

A Community-Focused Project

This concert was made possible through the generosity of donations from SMEs across the nation. Amidst the disparity in access to cultural and artistic experiences caused by varying regional and family circumstances, this initiative represents the heartfelt intentions of numerous small and medium-sized businesses committed to delivering authentic music to every child. The collective efforts culminated in a moment of magic and wonder in Tokyo, ensuring that the children felt the profound emotions conveyed through music.

The JASME continues its role as a bridge between businesses and communities, planning to work hand in hand with both the 1 Million Classical Live Foundation and Asuka Corporation to expand this initiative nationwide.
