Delamain Unveils Folio Natura: A Fruity New Expression from Grande Champagne

Introduction to Folio Natura

Inspired by nine generations of fascination with the natural world, the House of Delamain has introduced a new essential expression known as Folio Natura. This contemporary Cognac stands out for its generous fruit profile and reflects an evolving interpretation of the Delamain style, inviting enthusiasts to explore both its flavor and the storied history of the brand.

The Composition of Folio Natura

Unique to Folio Natura is a rare blend drawn from three distinct grape varieties sourced entirely from Grande Champagne, recognized as Cognac's Premier Cru. The predominant grape, Ugni Blanc, forms 98% of the region's vineyard plantings, providing the underlying structure for this exquisite blend. Complementing it, Colombard contributes a vibrant fruitiness while Folle Blanche adds a touch of freshness and finesse. The combination of these grapes offers a perfectly balanced expression that captures the essence of the terroir.

Aging Process

In keeping with Delamain's esteemed heritage, Folio Natura is aged for a minimum of six years in well-seasoned 350-liter oak casks. This meticulous aging process takes place in a cellar near the scenic Charente River, where each eaux-de-vie matures slowly and thoughtfully, embodying the brand's dedication to craftsmanship and quality. Through this patient approach, the flavors and aromas of Folio Natura develop to reflect the complex character of its origins.

Tasting Notes

Upon the first encounter with Folio Natura, the nose is greeted by delicate aromas of white flowers and vine blossoms. As the initial impressions evolve, fresh orchard fruits emerge, accentuated by hints of bergamot and zesty lemon. On the palate, the Cognac reveals an elegant interplay of freshness characterized by accents of verbena and lime blossom. The finish is long, precise, and refined, providing an unforgettable tasting experience that beautifully balances richness and sophistication.

A Tribute to Naturalist Heritage

Delamain has always been driven by curiosity about the living world. Folio Natura pays homage to this legacy, embodying the spirit of the Livres de Nature, a natural history collection founded by Jacques Delamain in 1930. Charles Braastad, the current Cellar Master and a ninth-generation representative of the family, continues to nurture this rich heritage and commitment to exploration, observation, and discovery, evident in every sip of Folio Natura.
