Marriott International Terminates Licensing Agreement with Sonder

Bethesda, Maryland—November 11, 2025
Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) recently announced the conclusion of its licensing agreement with Sonder Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: SOND), due to performance deficiencies exhibited by Sonder. This strategic decision means that Sonder is no longer affiliated with Marriott Bonvoy, and its accommodations are now unavailable for new bookings through Marriott’s platforms.

The immediate concern for Marriott is the support of guests currently residing in Sonder accommodations, as well as those who have future reservations. Marriott plans to reach out to guests who made their reservations directly through its channels, such as marriott.com, the Marriott Bonvoy app, or its global reservation centers, to assist them with their booking needs. For those who booked via third-party online travel agencies, they are advised to contact those platforms directly for assistance. Marriott is committed to ensuring minimal disruption to the travel plans of its guests during this transition.

For guests with inquiries regarding their current or future bookings at a Sonder property that were made through Marriott channels, the company recommends contacting Marriott’s customer service.
