Landis+Gyr Completes EMEA Business Divestiture
On April 8, 2026, Landis+Gyr Group AG, a prominent name in the global energy technology sector, announced the completion of its divestiture of the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) business to AURELIUS. This move, initially revealed in September 2025, reached its conclusion after meeting all regulatory approvals and closing conditions as of March 31, 2026.
The divested operations include a comprehensive metering portfolio that spans across residential electricity, industrial and commercial gas services, thermal, and water metering. Further, the transaction covered integrated software and service solutions, in addition to the transfer of five production sites and the employment of approximately 2,800 personnel who are now part of the AURELIUS team.
Peter Mainz, CEO of Landis+Gyr, expressed that this divestiture represents a pivotal moment in the company’s strategic transformation. By focusing on the Americas and Asia Pacific regions, where they have established market leadership, Landis+Gyr aims to meet the growing demand for high-value software, services, and grid-edge intelligence solutions.
“This transaction ensures continuity for our customers and employees within the EMEA region while enhancing long-term value for all stakeholders involved,” Mainz noted.
The proceeds from this divestiture are set to enhance shareholder value through a share buyback program that was initiated in October 2025. Furthermore, Landis+Gyr plans to maintain a robust balance sheet, ensuring financial flexibility to facilitate future growth ventures.
