West Virginia American Water's Major Infrastructure Upgrade on Fayette Avenue to Boost Community Services

Major Infrastructure Upgrade in Fayetteville by West Virginia American Water

West Virginia American Water announced an exciting new infrastructure upgrade project on Fayette Avenue, Fayetteville, with a hefty investment of $512,000. This initiative is part of their continuous efforts to enhance water services in the community. According to Scott Wyman, the president of West Virginia American Water, this upgrade is essential to ensure that residents have access to safe, clean, and reliable water.

The project involves replacing 1,040 feet of aging pipe with a durable 6-inch PVC water main. The work will take place along Fayette Avenue, stretching from Sarah Street to Huse Street, and is slated for completion by the end of October 2026. Crews will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and residents should anticipate some traffic restrictions during the construction period.

This upgrade aligns with West Virginia American Water's broader investment strategy, where they plan to devote over $129 million to various infrastructure projects across the state in 2026. Economic analyses indicate that every million dollars spent in water infrastructure generates approximately 10 jobs in local economies, boosting the community economically.

Over the past decade, the company has committed more than $805 million towards modernizing its infrastructure to address aging systems throughout West Virginia. This includes the installation of over 168 miles of new water main, underscoring their commitment to enhancing water quality and service reliability across the Mountain State.

During the construction process, customers may face minor inconveniences such as temporary service interruptions, discolored water, or lower-than-normal water pressure. The construction teams are dedicated to conducting the work as efficiently as possible to minimize these disruptions. Residents are encouraged to report any water-related emergencies, like leaks or service interruptions, by submitting a service request through the company's website.
