AONN+ Partners with Gilead Sciences for a New Grant Program

In a significant move aimed at improving oncology care, the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) is thrilled to unveil a transformative grant program in collaboration with Gilead Sciences. This initiative focuses on enhancing oncology navigation and patient outcomes, a critical area in healthcare that remains a challenge due to numerous systemic barriers.

The grant program's primary aim is to support the development and enhancement of innovative tools and practices that optimize the performance of oncology navigators, thus improving patient access to crucial navigation services. "By empowering navigators to improve access, remove barriers to cancer treatment, and bolster adherence to treatment plans, we enhance the overall patient experience," Roth stated.

Grant Application Insights

Since the grant application call in April, healthcare leaders nationwide have risen to the occasion, submitting creative proposals focused on software solutions and healthcare system improvements. AONN+ will announce the award recipients in June, with project work expected to commence in July. Those awarded grants could receive funding of up to $500,000. The implementation of this project is aimed to effectively integrate proposed tools with measurable improvements in patient care, ensuring that navigators can wield significant impact in their roles.
