Bybit and Cactus Custody Forge Strategic Alliance for Enhanced Digital Asset Trading Security

Strategic Collaboration Between Bybit and Cactus Custody

In a significant development in the cryptocurrency sector, Bybit, known as the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has announced a strategic partnership with Cactus Custody, a leading digital asset custodian under the Matrixport Group. This collaboration aims to enhance the trading infrastructure required for institutional clients by integrating the innovative Cactus Oasis solution. The integration is set to go live on July 28, 2025.

Enhancing Security and Efficiency

The collaboration facilitates institutions and professional clients to execute trades directly on Bybit without needing to pre-fund their exchange accounts. Instead, clients will deposit collateral into Cactus Custody, where the assets are securely held in segregated and regulated custody. Transfers to Bybit will occur solely at the point of trade settlement. This approach minimizes counterparty risk while retaining access to vital market liquidity, thereby creating a more secure trading environment.

Shunyet Jan, Head of Institutional and Derivatives at Bybit, expressed confidence in the project, stating, "Bybit is committed to providing institutions with a secure and efficient trading environment. The integration of Cactus Oasis gives our clients more flexibility in managing liquidity without compromising asset protection."

Cactus Oasis: A Tailored Solution

The Cactus Oasis integration focuses on enhancing asset security and operational efficiency for institutional clients. By utilizing Cactus Custody, the assets remain protected until the execution of trade settlement, thereby promoting capital efficiency and adhering to strict governance requirements.

Cactus Custody employs a sophisticated bank-grade security model that features a tiered hot and cold wallet system, utilizing Hardware Security Module (HSM) encryption for added protection. The custodian holds substantial certifications, including SOC 1 Type 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 from Deloitte, and operates under the strict compliance standards set by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. This accreditation is vital for meeting the rigorous security expectations of leading financial institutions and their clients.

Furthermore, Cactus Oasis is optimized for institutional needs, offering cross-platform custody through specialized Buffer accounts. This feature streamlines the management of assets across multiple exchanges and equips clients with flexible risk controls. Options include dual- and pre-authorization modes, customizable approval and settlement workflows, and compliance with KYC, KYB, and KYT requirements. Enhanced operational governance is maintained through role-based access and multi-level permissions, ensuring both security and operational efficiency.

A Step Towards Institutional Adoption

Wendy Jiang, General Manager of Cactus Custody, highlighted the significance of this partnership: "This integration with Bybit addresses institutional demands for secure custody, risk reduction, and efficient post-trade settlement. It represents a meaningful step in advancing digital asset trading infrastructure and driving institutional adoption."

The alliance between Bybit and Cactus Custody reflects a shared commitment to reshaping the landscape for institutional adoption within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. As regulations improve and more institutions recognize the potential of digital assets, this partnership is poised to deliver a compliant and scalable infrastructure that's crucial for long-term engagement, especially in the Asia-Pacific region where clarity in regulation and risk controls are paramount.

Bybit stands at the forefront of the cryptocurrency revolution, serving a global community of over 70 million users since its establishment in 2018. With a dedicated focus on creating a decentralized and equal ecosystem, Bybit is well-positioned to leverage this strategic partnership to further its mission in the rapidly evolving world of digital finance. As the cryptocurrency landscape continues to mature, collaborations like these underscore the importance of security and operational control in driving the next wave of institutional adoption.
