Dean Kueter Joins Lassen Peak's Advisory Committee to Enhance Law Enforcement Collaboration

Lassen Peak Welcomes Dean Kueter to Its Advisory Committee

Lassen Peak, a leading innovator in submillimeter wave technology, has recently appointed Dean M. Kueter, Jr. to its advisory committee. With this strategic move, the company aims to bolster its relationships within law enforcement and enhance its position in the deployment of essential safety technologies.

Dean Kueter's extensive experience includes being the co-founder of Black Alpha International and his influential role as the head of the U.S. Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement. His leadership facilitated the most comprehensive review of U.S. law enforcement practices in over half a century, contributing to significant reform discussions during a pivotal time marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and calls for police reform.

During his tenure from 2019 to 2022, Kueter coordinated experts to produce a historic report featuring over 150 recommendations, many of which focused on modernizing technology within law enforcement. Additionally, he was instrumental in connecting federal policies with local sheriffs and police chiefs to guide agencies on technology adoption.

Prior to leading the commission, Kueter served as Chief of Staff at the Community Oriented Policing Services Office (COPS) within the U.S. Department of Justice, where he oversaw substantial grant programs aimed at equipping law enforcement agencies with advanced technological tools. His decade-long experience as Government Affairs Director for the National Sheriffs’ Association further solidifies his familiarity with the needs and challenges of over 3,000 elected sheriffs nationwide.

Hatch Graham, co-founder, CEO of Lassen Peak, expressed confidence in Kueter's appointment, stating, “Dean brings incredible expertise in federal policies, grant funding pathways, and law enforcement operations. His connections and insights are invaluable as we prepare for our pilot program with public safety agencies.”

Kueter himself emphasized the importance of equipping law enforcement with effective tools for safer policing. He referenced that physical searches remain one of the most hazardous activities for officers and citizens alike. He believes that Lassen Peak’s technology aligns with the ambitions of the Presidential Commission to create solutions that enhance officer safety while respecting the constitutional rights of the communities they serve.

As a pioneer in addressing critical issues in modern policing, Lassen Peak is committed to integrating feedback from respected leaders like Kueter, ensuring that their technological advancements genuinely meet the nuanced needs of law enforcement. The Seattle-based company is gathering a diverse advisory team that includes former leaders from major civil rights and law enforcement organizations across the U.S., further strengthening its mission.
