Kazakhstan's Gorky Tennis Park Becomes Central Asia's First Roland-Garros Club

Gorky Tennis Park Officially Recognized as a Roland-Garros Club

In a significant milestone for Kazakhstan's tennis scene, Gorky Tennis Park in Almaty has been officially designated as a Roland-Garros Club, becoming one of only three such clubs worldwide. This prestigious recognition was marked by a partnership with the French Tennis Federation, showcasing Kazakhstan's growing stature in the international tennis arena.

The announcement, made on August 5, 2025, signifies a new chapter for tennis in Central and West Asia, with Gorky Tennis Park set to host the Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault regional qualifiers. This event will bring young talents to the forefront, culminating in a series finale in Tokyo scheduled for October 13 to 19, 2025.

Aymeric Labaste, who oversees International Development at Roland-Garros, expressed pride in this collaboration, remarking, "The French Tennis Federation is excited to partner with Gorky Tennis Park, which is a state-of-the-art clay court facility. As our exclusive partner in Kazakhstan, the club is establishing a new benchmark for the sport in the region and is especially poised to host the Junior Series qualifiers."

This recognition reflects the dedication of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation (KTF) and its President, Bulat Utemuratov, to enhance the quality of tennis infrastructure and expand international opportunities for players. Since 2020, the KTF has been instrumental in hosting ATP 250 tournaments, with the latest being held in Almaty, demonstrating a commitment to elevating Kazakhstan’s standing in the sport.

Furthermore, over the past 18 years, the KTF has successfully established 38 tennis centers across the country, laying a robust foundation for the development of tennis at all levels. This extensive investment in infrastructure and talent development has not gone unnoticed; Yuriy Polskiy, President of the Asian Tennis Federation, highlighted this growth, stating, "The designation reflects years of investment into Kazakhstan's tennis infrastructure and talent pipeline. We are proud to see Kazakhstan's leadership in tennis acknowledged at the highest level."

Gorky Tennis Park has undergone significant renovations in recent years, including the addition of a professional tennis academy, with upgraded facilities that meet international standards. These improvements further consolidate Kazakhstan's position as a leader in the regional tennis landscape and align with the KTF’s vision for fostering growth from grassroots to elite levels.

With such progressive developments, the future of tennis in Kazakhstan appears bright, and the Gorky Tennis Park is poised to be at the center of this exciting evolution in the sport.
