Applications Now Open for CABRI's Undergraduate Research Fellowships
CABRI Fellowship Program for Undergraduates
The Cayman Biomedical Research Institute (CABRI) is excited to announce the opening of applications for its undergraduate research fellowship program, aimed at fostering the next generation of scientists and researchers. The program began accepting applications on August 11, 2025, and will remain open until September 29, 2025.
About the Fellowship
CABRI's undergraduate fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis. Eligible applicants must already have secured a research position under the guidance of a qualified principal investigator. Each selected mentee-mentor team is eligible for up to $5,000 per academic year, which can be used as compensation for the undergraduate or for purchasing essential reagents needed for their research projects. The principal investigator will play a vital role in mentoring the selected undergraduate throughout their journey.
Dr. Kourtney Goode, Academic Relations Coordinator at Cayman Chemical, expressed the organization’s commitment: "Our fellows represent the next generation of brilliant scientific minds. Their passion, creativity, and commitment to discovery are inspiring, and we are proud to support their growth as researchers."
Previous Awards and Research Topics
In 2024, CABRI awarded research fellowships to six undergraduate students from three different academic institutions across the United States. The range of research topics covered by these awards was impressive, encompassing areas such as cancer biology, cell metabolism, and neuroscience. These projects not only reflected the fellows' academic rigor but also the potential for significant contributions to the respective fields.
Application Guidelines
Students interested in applying for the CABRI fellowship are encouraged to carefully review the application requirements outlined on the CABRI submission form. The process is designed to identify talented individuals who demonstrate a commitment to scientific inquiry and a passion for advancing medical research. The organization welcomes inquiries about the funding opportunity and offers a supportive environment for students to enhance their research skills and experience.
About CABRI
The Cayman Biomedical Research Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of rare conditions and orphan diseases—areas often overlooked by the larger pharmaceutical industry. CABRI actively engages in providing research grants to principal investigators at academic institutions that focus on clinical or preclinical developments for these neglected diseases. Moreover, the organization offers scholarships to college-bound students who have lost a parent to sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma or B cell lymphoma.
This fellowship program stands as a testament to CABRI's commitment to nurturing scientific talent and facilitating groundbreaking research that can lead to significant medical advancements.
