Discover the Unique Charm of Remodeled Wear at NEAR Harajuku

Introducing NEAR Harajuku

On March 15, 2026, a fresh addition to Tokyo’s vibrant fashion district opened its doors: NEAR Harajuku, the flagship store of LOWRUNDER. Nestled in the nostalgic backstreets of the Jinjuumae shopping area, this store showcases the art of unique, remodeled fashion.

As you step into NEAR Harajuku, you’re greeted by a large glass facade adorned with plants, creating an inviting atmosphere. On sunny days, a patchwork bear plushie stands at the entrance, welcoming visitors warmly. The store features a charming wooden floor crafted from reclaimed materials that creaks softly underfoot, evoking a sense of cherished memories.

Inside, a handcrafted wardrobe reaches up to the ceiling, displaying a mix of art books and decorative plants. Animals made from quirky fabric scraps peek out from between garments, adding a whimsical touch to the shop’s interior. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance of nostalgia and humor, inviting even those unfamiliar with vintage or remade clothing to explore.

Alongside the retail space, NEAR Harajuku incorporates an atelier where staff actively create products while engaging with customers. This hands-on approach allows for real-time customization, offering on-the-spot adjustments and alterations like hemlines and detail changes.

The Philosophy Behind NEAR Harajuku

The motto, “MADE IN NEAR HERE,” encapsulates the brand’s commitment to local production, emphasizing items crafted in this exact location. Shoppers are encouraged to interact with these creations, experiencing the warmth and charm of one-of-a-kind apparel.

NEAR Harajuku stands as a space where the warmth and uniqueness of remodeled wear can be appreciated, encouraging visitors to connect with both the past and future of fashion. It seeks to ignite small changes and inspirations within those who enter, sparked by the clothing and the stories they tell.

Meet the Founder, Nana Ichii

Nana Ichii, the creative force behind NEAR Harajuku, hails from Kanagawa Prefecture. With a family background in pregnancy care, she explored the connection between history and human interactions during her studies abroad. This inspired her to pursue a career in creation. After working as a designer for an apparel brand, her desire to transform vintage clothing into new pieces took shape.

Since joining LOWRUNDER in 2009, Nana has dedicated herself to producing one-of-a-kind remade garments that resonate with the values of material history and personal narratives behind each piece.

In her words, NEAR Harajuku will be a place of discovery — a hub where people can find beauty in the imperfect, and feel a sense of calm in what surrounds them.

Future Plans

Looking ahead, NEAR intends to strengthen its presence both nationally and internationally while developing sustainable production systems rooted in remodeling techniques. Through fashion, the store strives to contribute to a creative and sustainable society.
