The highly anticipated World Manufacturing Convention (WMC) of 2025 is scheduled to take place from September 20 to 23 in Hefei, Anhui Province, China. This event has gained international recognition and is endorsed by the State Council as a platform aimed at promoting diplomatic initiatives and enhancing collaborations in the manufacturing sector.
The theme for this year’s convention is "Intelligent Manufacturing for a Better Future", which highlights the focus on cutting-edge technologies and innovation. Slovakia has been honored as the Guest of Honor country, while Henan Province has been designated as the Guest of Honor province. These selections underscore their significant roles in this year's agenda.
Among the event's key activities are an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, major investment meetings, and an exhibition displaying the achievements in manufacturing as laid out in the 14th Five-Year Plan. Additional activities will include business networking events, supply chain meetings, and press conferences aimed at sharing vital updates and insights from the manufacturing industry.
Several official reports will be unveiled during the event, including the “Top 500 Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises 2025” report, a development report focused on ten key areas for building a manufacturing powerhouse, and a report detailing the digital transformation capabilities of the manufacturing industry. These publications are expected to provide an in-depth view of China's strategies for fostering global manufacturing advancements.
The structure of the convention will feature four flagship events, six investment meeting sessions, and 23 specialized programs. With ten comprehensive exhibition zones, the convention aims to showcase national and provincial successes as part of the ongoing Five-Year Plan, illustrating the progress made across various sectors.
Active participation and collaboration with the global community remain pivotal at the World Manufacturing Convention. This year’s event will spotlight Anhui's modern industrial framework, known as the "6178" model, which encapsulates six primary industries, ten strategic growth sectors, seven emerging fields, and eight high-value service industries. The convention aspires to solidify international cooperation, boost investment opportunities, support the modernization of traditional industries, and promote the emergence of new industrial clusters and next-gen technologies.
Remarkably, up to this point, there have been 932 preliminary agreements reached, with investments expected to total 424.6 billion RMB. This demonstrates a strong commitment to practical collaboration and the pursuit of tangible outcomes for all stakeholders involved.
