Introducing the World Estates Influence Index in Sichuan, China: A New Benchmark for Global Distillation Quality

The Launch of the World Estates Influence Index

On June 20, a remarkable event unfolded at the Langjiu Winery in the Baijiu region of the Chishui River, southwest China. The official introduction of the World Estates Influence Index took place during the Estate Culture Forum, drawing participants from 28 globally renowned wineries. This forum served as a credible platform to discuss the future of the wine and spirits industry while celebrating cultural heritage and innovation.

The World Estates Influence Index, developed by the Xinhua Indices Institute, represents a pioneering initiative in global estate evaluation. Designed with a multi-dimensional assessment system, it encompasses various types of alcoholic beverages, production regions, and cultural backgrounds. This comprehensive index is the result of an extensive study that examined 94 representative estates across 23 countries and six continents, providing a reliable framework for assessing the performance and influence of distilleries worldwide.

A Five-Dimensional Model

The Index employs a unique five-dimensional assessment model, which incorporates key factors such as:
1. Rootedness: The connection of the estate to its cultural and geographic environment.
2. Drive: The motivation behind the estate's production and innovation efforts.
3. Vitality: The estate's ability to adapt and thrive in the ever-evolving market.
4. Radiance: The estate's overall reputation and appeal on the global stage.
5. Sustainability: The practices adopted to ensure environmental and cultural sustainability.

These dimensions categorize the assessed estates into four tiers, revealing the hierarchy in the quality and impact of the offerings:
  • - 10 Leading Estates
  • - 35 Premium Estates
  • - 37 Core Estates
  • - 12 Selected Estates

Notably, Langjiu Estate, China's sole Baijiu winery to make it to the top tier, demonstrated exceptional achievements in radiance and sustainability thanks to its innovative family of products. The estate's intricate Baijiu manufacturing process has been transformed into an engaging visitor experience, attracting over 200,000 visitors annually. This illustrates Langjiu's commitment to creating a narrative for Chinese Baijiu estates that resonates with global audiences.

Implications for the Global Industry

Industry experts recognize that the launch of the World Estates Influence Index provides a significant benchmark for wineries around the world, aiding them in navigating their development trajectories. Moreover, it offers essential guidance for the localized and international expansion of China's Baijiu industry. By encouraging mutual exchange among cultures, this initiative aims to foster deeper integration and higher quality development of global estates.

The forum was jointly organized by the China Economic Information Service and Sichuan Langjiu Co., Ltd., embodying the theme of Tradition and Innovation. Engaging representatives from various wineries, it served as a high-level networking opportunity. The goal was to elevate the global wine and spirits sector by preserving traditional practices while also creating new values, ultimately furthering the internationalization of Chinese spirit culture.

In summary, the introduction of the World Estates Influence Index marks a new era in the assessment of wineries and distilleries worldwide. As it gains traction, it provides an important reference point for industry professionals aiming to refine their techniques and contributions within a global context. It stands as a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation, ensuring that the rich heritage of wine and spirits continues to thrive across the globe.
