Niron Magnetics Secures Conditional $150 Million for Revolutionary Magnet Manufacturing

Niron Magnetics Gains Groundbreaking Funding for Magnet Manufacturing

Niron Magnetics, a leader in the development of rare-earth-free permanent magnets, has recently secured a conditional commitment from the Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital (OSC) for a direct loan of up to $150 million. This funding is intended to bolster the construction and equipping of the company's manufacturing plant located in Sartell, Minnesota. With an expected operational date in 2027, this plant will play a pivotal role in domestic magnet production and is projected to create around 175 full-time jobs.

The Shift Towards Domestic Production

the funding represents a crucial step in establishing advanced domestic manufacturing capabilities for Iron Nitride magnets, which do not rely on rare earth materials. Rare earth magnets have long posed a challenge due to their limited availability and high production costs primarily sourced overseas. Niron’s innovative approach not only promises enhanced material security but also reduces dependency on volatile foreign markets.
