Introduction to the Ichiban Rice Chiba Campaign
Chiba Prefecture in Japan prides itself on being one of the first regions in Eastern Japan to harvest rice each year. This season, the
Ichiban Rice Chiba Campaign is back, running until
November 5, 2026, to showcase and promote the delicious new rice produced in this area. Spearheaded by the
Chiba Prefecture Rice Demand Expansion Council, which aims to boost local rice consumption, the campaign includes exciting prizes for participants.
Campaign Details
This year's campaign encourages rice enthusiasts and food lovers to purchase Chiba's new rice, specifically those products featuring a unique label bearing the beloved mascot
Chiba-kun. By buying these designated new rice products, customers are entered into a draw to win various prizes that complement their freshly cooked rice. In total,
200 lucky winners will receive local food items, including items that pair excellently with the new rice. Additionally, there is a special
SNS campaign where participants can win a set of three local curry recipes by reposting campaign information on social media.
How to Enter the Campaign
Participation is straightforward. Customers need to look for rice bags with the
Chiba-kun sticker and scan the QR code on the label, which directs them to the campaign application form. They will need to fill out the required information directly on the website. Participants can submit their application once per sticker, though they can enter multiple times using different stickers. However, note that each participant can only win once.
Prize Opportunities
The prize selection this year is quite enticing:
- - A Prize: A delectable shabu-shabu set with Chiba Kinmedai fish.
- - B Prize: A portion of Chiba Beef for sukiyaki (equivalent to 500g).
- - C Prize: A combination set featuring three types of Chiba Pork (totaling 1kg).
- - D Prize: A sampling set of fresh Edo-Mae konoshiro fish.
- - E Prize: Fresh seaweed harvested in Chiba (three packs of 10 sheets each).
- - F Prize: A unique traditional sauce called “Hishio” for culinary enthusiasts.
Additionally, for those who don’t win the main prizes, there’s still a chance to grab a
Chiba-kun Original Tote Bag through the W Chance draw. This special gift will be awarded to
50 participants who entered but didn’t win the main prizes.
Why the Campaign Matters
Chiba's warm climate allows it to harvest rice earlier than many other regions, making it a prominent rice-producing area in Japan. The campaign aims to promote this premium new rice during its peak season, supporting local farmers and showcasing the high-quality produce of the region. By participating in this initiative, consumers are not only able to enjoy delicious rice but also support the local economy.

In conjunction with the
Ichiban Rice Chiba Campaign, a
