FORVAL's New Role in Decarbonization Efforts
FORVAL, a consulting group based in Tokyo and known as the "Corporate Doctor" for its innovative approach to ESG management, has recently been awarded a significant contract by Miyazaki Prefecture. This initiative aims to promote decarbonization management as part of the "Reiwa Year 7 Decarbonized Management Business."
Background of the Project
Miyazaki Prefecture has undertaken the "Japan's No. 1 Challenge Project," focusing on advancing regional growth by harnessing its strengths. A key pillar of this project is the realization of growth through decarbonization. The prefecture is committed to supporting various industries in transitioning toward sustainable management practices.
The primary focus of this collaboration is to hold practical seminars aimed at facilitating decarbonization and providing ongoing support tailored to the specific operational and equipment utilization conditions of local businesses. This effort is intended to foster a shared understanding that even small and medium-sized enterprises can embark successfully on the path to Green Transformation (GX), thus enhancing regional industrial competitiveness and promoting a sustainable industrial structure.
Objectives and Support Activities
The contract encompasses several vital support activities:
1.
Advisor Dispatch: FORVAL will send advisors to help local businesses assess their energy usage comprehensively. This includes conducting hearings and on-site inspections to quantify greenhouse gas emissions from electricity and gas consumption.
2.
Emissions Reduction Proposals: Advisors will provide tailored suggestions for operational improvements and equipment investments that facilitate emissions reductions.
3.
Investment Effectiveness Estimates: Based on the proposed changes, advisors will calculate the cost-saving effects on utilities and estimate how quickly investments can be recovered.
4.
Reduction Plan Development Support: Advisors will assist businesses in crafting individualized plans for greenhouse gas emissions reduction based on extensive analysis.
5.
Implementation Support and Consultation: This includes organizing any challenges businesses may encounter during the execution of proposed strategies, providing ongoing consultation, and informing them of relevant government subsidy programs.
Establishment of a Consultation Center
Additionally, a consultation center will be established to address queries and provide guidance to businesses not covered by the advisor dispatch program. This will further expand the outreach of decarbonization management support throughout Miyazaki Prefecture.
Support Tools for Effective Implementation
To maximize the effectiveness of the decarbonization efforts, FORVAL will utilize two specialized tools designed to facilitate the journey of small and medium-sized enterprises:
- - Kizuna PARK: This tool collects and accumulates business management data, allowing for deep analysis of business resources—both financial and non-financial. Furthermore, a BI report feature will enable FORVAL to generate ESG assessment reports tailored for small businesses, making actionable suggestions for management reforms geared toward decarbonization.
- - CN Report: Regardless of company size or industry, this tool supports the visualization of CO₂ emissions, development of environmental management systems, and identification of reduction actions. It also aids businesses in becoming more appealing to consumers and stakeholders by enhancing their green credentials.
