HunterLab Unveils the Next-Generation Vista® L2 Spectrophotometer with Extended Range

HunterLab Introduces Vista® L2: A New Era in Color Measurement

In a significant advancement for the color measurement industry, HunterLab has officially launched the Vista® L2 spectrophotometer, which promises to redefine the standards of precision and efficiency in color analysis. This next-generation instrument is designed to measure color and turbidity in transparent and translucent liquids as well as solids, featuring an extended spectral range of up to 710 nm.

Enhancements and Features of the Vista® L2

The Vista® L2 is equipped with Essentials L2, the most advanced color analysis software available in the market. This state-of-the-art software offers a wide array of integrated computational options, enhancing the product's capabilities without altering existing measurement methods or accessories. The incorporation of the extended 710 nm range allows for improved separation between actual color measurements, calculated as absorbance, and turbidity, gauged as light scatter. This separation aids manufacturers in identifying instability in liquid products early in the production process, thereby enabling quicker and more reliable assessments of color stability.

Additionally, this extended spectral range is crucial for measuring chlorophyll at specific wavelengths (630, 670, and 710 nm), aligning with the AOCS Cc 13d-55 method used for tracking oxidation in edible oils, ensuring product longevity and compliance with industry standards.

Meeting Industry Demands

Bob Weaver, president of HunterLab, emphasized the urgency in the industry's demand for efficiency. He remarked, "Quality-focused teams are being required to measure more within shorter time frames, all without increasing their equipment or workforce. The Vista® L2 is engineered precisely for this reality, expanding measurement possibilities from a single device while utilizing the same methods and accessories that our customers already rely on. This ensures smooth operations without disruption."

The Vista® L2 builds on the established Vista platform, maintaining its light transmission geometry, full-spectrum LED illumination, and user-friendly touch interface. Among its new features, it boasts 32 GB of integrated memory capable of handling millions of measurements, an HDMI output for displaying results on external monitors, and a built-in wavelength verification standard that ensures consistent performance.

This innovative instrument stands out as the only transmission device applying Beer-Lambert's law with the accuracy required for reporting absolute color using standard cuvettes and vials. The system automatically evaluates edible oils with optical path lengths of 5.25 inches or 1 inch and measures APHA color in smaller cuvettes than those demanded by competing systems, thus minimizing reliance on costly specialized cuvettes.

Optimized and Repeatable Measurements

Convertible holders and base plates—available in Multi-Functional, Precision, and Self-Centering versions—allow flexible placement of liquids, vials, cuvettes, and hazardous samples, ensuring repeatable results through magnetic adapters and positioning pins.

The Vista® L2 is now available for purchase, and more information along with demo requests can be submitted through HunterLab's website.
